BBC News website corrects inaccurate Orange affiliate claim

As was noted here previously, a BBC News website article from June 12th inaccurately described the Israeli firm Partner as an affiliate of the French telecom company Orange, despite the fact that during the visit to Israel by Orange’s CEO which was the article’s subject matter, Stephane Richard stated quite clearly that Partner is not an affiliate of Orange.

Following communication from BBC Watch, the article has now been amended and the relevant paragraph now reads as follows:

Orange correction

BBC Watch of course commends the timely correction but notes that the continued absence of a dedicated corrections page on the BBC News website means that those who read the report on its original day of publication will remain unaware of the fact that some of the information they received was inaccurate.
