BBC does know how to translate ‘Yahud’ – when it is said in the UK

Thank you to all the readers who took the trouble to contact us to point out that – in contrast to its misrepresentation of the meaning of the word ‘Yahud’ in Lyse Doucet’s recent programme ‘Children of the Gaza War’ – the BBC managed only relatively recently to provide its audiences with a correct translation of that Arabic word.

Relatedly, it would appear that complaints on that issue are being answered with one of the BBC complaints department’s template responses.

template response yahud

Of course that reply does not address the underlying issue which prompted the complaints.

  1. Slurs won’t win battles for arab murderers and usurpers. They will be expelled from Western Palestine sooner or later.

  2. Have just received two inept responses from BBC to my two complaints about their misleading translation in Children of the Gaza War [8 July 2015] from ‘Al Yahud’ to ‘Israeli.’

BBC’s response? They inform me that their ‘translators’ [euphemism for Hamas terrorist, maybe?] decided that the more accurate translation of ‘Yahud’ in context of the programme is ‘Israeli’ rather than ‘Jew.’

What a complete and utter disgrace! In April 2015 the BBC knows full well that Al Yahud is ‘the Jew’, but by July they have been ‘persuaded by their translators’ that Al Yahud actually means ‘Israeli.’

    I give up!!
